Who We Are.

Erin approaches design as a collaborative process—engaging with problems, opportunities, and ideas through careful research and a focus on how things are actually made. Both a licensed architect and a skilled craftswoman, she leads Matter, a design and fabrication studio that transforms visionary concepts into built reality, creating spaces and objects that honor context while serving the distinct needs of each client and site.

She specializes in residential design/build projects and bespoke solutions tailored to each client's unique needs and site conditions. Her approach balances deep respect for architectural heritage with intimate understanding of how her clients live, work, and gather. Her practice moves fluidly between hands-on fabrication and strategic vision, designing and building custom furniture, storage solutions, and architectural interventions that are both beautifully crafted and successfully executed.

She has taught at Harvard, Cornell, The New School, CUNY, and The New Jersey Institute of Technology, where she co-leads the design/build program focusing on public interest design. Her work has been recognized with an Autodesk BuildSpace Fellowship, an AIA New England Design Honor Award, multiple Core77 Design Awards, two Architizer A+ Awards, a Paul M. Heffernan International Fellowship, and a nomination for the EU Mies van der Rohe Award.

She is a registered architect in Massachusetts and New Jersey, and holds a B.Arch. from Cornell University, an M.Arch. II from the Harvard Graduate School of Design, and an MBA from the Quantic School of Business and Technology.
